{"id":131065,"date":"2025-10-16T07:48:01","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T07:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=131065"},"modified":"2025-10-16T07:48:03","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T07:48:03","slug":"wave-of-attacks-targets-sdf-asayish-positions-in-deir-ez-zor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/131065\/","title":{"rendered":"Wave of attacks targets SDF, Asayish positions in Deir ez-Zor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Armed attacks targeted on Wednesday night several positions and patrols of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in multiple towns of Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, eastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Asayish security source in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that unidentified gunmen fired a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) and opened fire with automatic weapons at an Asayish checkpoint in the town of Diban, leading to clashes between the attackers and security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident resulted in material damage but no casualties were reported, according to the source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same source added that a military headquarters in Diban was also attacked with an RPG round, though the assault caused no injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate incident, unidentified gunmen opened fire on an SDF patrol in the town of Abu Hamam, also in the east of Deir ez-Zor, shortly after the patrol arrived to reinforce local units responding to the burning of the Women\u2019s House in the town by unknown assailants. The fire caused only material damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, in the town of al-Hejjnah, two masked men on a motorcycle shot and wounded Asayish member Aysar al-Khedr with a silenced pistol, the source said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added that both the SDF and Asayish have since intensified patrols across Deir ez-Zor countryside amid a growing wave of attacks targeting their forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the territorial defeat of ISIS in 2019, remnants of the group remain active in areas of Deir ez-Zor, often carrying out hit-and-run attacks against SDF forces, local security personnel, and civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier today, the <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/131052\/\">SDF announced<\/a> that its Commando Forces, in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition, conducted two separate security operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, resulting in the capture of several ISIS militants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Omar Abdurrahman<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Editing by Jwan Shekaki<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Armed attacks targeted on Wednesday night several positions and patrols of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in multiple towns of Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside, eastern Syria.
