{"id":130926,"date":"2025-10-13T08:31:56","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T08:31:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=130926"},"modified":"2025-10-13T08:31:58","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T08:31:58","slug":"syrias-al-sharaa-vows-to-rebuild-reunite-country-after-years-of-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/130926\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria\u2019s al-Sharaa vows to rebuild, reunite country after years of war"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Syria&#8217;s President Ahmad al-Sharaa said on Sunday that his government is committed to rebuilding the country, restoring unity, and ensuring peace after more than a decade of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSyria deserves to live in peace and security, and the world will benefit from Syria\u2019s new situation,\u201d he said in an interview with CBS\u2019s 60 Minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Sharaa now faces enormous challenges, including reconstruction, lifting international sanctions, and addressing sectarian tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He estimated that rebuilding the country would cost between $600\u2013900 billion and urged the international community to help. Nearly half of Syria\u2019s population remains displaced, and many areas still lack electricity and clean water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Sharaa called for an end to Western sanctions, saying those who oppose their removal \u201care accomplices to the suffering of the Syrian people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also confirmed that he discussed the issue with U.S. President Donald Trump and raised it again during his address to the UN General Assembly, the first by a Syrian leader since 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amid allegations of sectarian killings by his forces, al-Sharaa denied ordering attacks on civilians, stressing that all perpetrators of war crimes \u201cfrom any side\u201d will be held
