{"id":130908,"date":"2025-10-12T12:08:32","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T12:08:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=130908"},"modified":"2025-10-12T12:08:39","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T12:08:39","slug":"sdf-to-serve-as-model-for-syrias-future-national-army-ypj-commander","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/130908\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF to serve as model for Syria\u2019s future national army \u2013 YPJ Commander"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Rohlat Afrin, a senior commander in the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Sunday that the SDF, in all its components, represents an advanced model for Syria\u2019s future army \u2014 one capable of defending the country and preserving its unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afrin reaffirmed the YPJ and SDF\u2019s continued commitment to defending the people and regions of northeastern Syria \u201cin all their social and ethnic diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She emphasized that \u201cthe experience of the SDF represents a democratic and inclusive model on which Syria\u2019s future national army can be built.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her remarks came during a speech in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, marking the sixth anniversary of the assassination of Hevrin Khalaf, the late Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A commemorative festival was held in Raqqa to mark the anniversary of Hevrin Khalaf\u2019s assassination, attended by political and military leaders, as well as representatives of parties and blocs from across northeastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hevrin Khalaf was assassinated on Oct. 12, 2019, while heading from Hasakah to Raqqa, by militants of Ahrar al-Sharqiya, a Turkish-backed faction led by Ahmad al-Hayes, known as \u201cAbu Hatem Shaqra\u201d. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Zana al-Ali<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Editing by Jwan Shekaki<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Rohlat Afrin, a senior commander in the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said on Sunday that the SDF, in all its components, represents an advanced model for Syria\u2019s future army \u2014 one capable of defending the country and preserving its unity.
