The clashes were sparked by the alleged abduction of a Druze truck driver along the Damascus\u2013Suwayda highway. This incident quickly ignited a cycle of retaliatory attacks, resulting in widespread violence across the region. By July 15, more than 200 people \u2014 including Druze civilians and fighters \u2014 had lost their lives. Numerous others were injured, and reports emerged of kidnappings and disappearances. The unrest also caused large-scale displacement, uprooting many families from their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commission expressed deep appreciation for the access granted and the facilitation of its mission, noting that its team has now departed Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It emphasized the intention to conduct further visits to impacted communities, provided that access continues to be allowed and conditions remain adequate for their work, while preserving the commission\u2019s independence, methodology, and confidentiality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee thanked numerous survivors, witnesses, and members of affected communities who provided testimonies on suspected violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement also addressed the circulation of misinformation across social media platforms. The commission stressed that no findings will be released until investigations are complete, reaffirming that its inquiries remain ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee concluded by affirming its commitment to continue investigations through engagement with affected communities and relevant stakeholders, in line with its mandate.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commission did not announce a timeline for the next phase of the investigation.
