He added, \u201cThe United States guides and assists, but does not impose an American or European model on Syrians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding recent events in Suwayda, Barrack described them as \u201cregrettable,\u201d stating Washington is working to prevent recurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barrack further referred to the latest meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan as \u201cbetter than excellent,\u201d noting the discussion focused on ways to support the formation of an inclusive Syrian government. He confirmed that Ankara showed understanding of the American role in this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In parallel, Trump revealed plans to issue an \u201cimportant statement\u201d regarding Syria, without offering details, while noting that lifting sanctions on Damascus was aimed at \u201cgiving Syrians breathing space\u201d after previously \u201cvery strict\u201d restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These developments follow notable shifts in U.S. policy toward Syria. In May, Trump announced his intention to lift sanctions, later formalized by an executive order at the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. stance coincides with a historic visit by Syria\u2019s transitional President, Ahmad Al-Shar\u2019a, to the United States and his participation in the United Nations General Assembly\u2014the first such appearance in decades.
