{"id":130119,"date":"2025-09-23T15:15:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T15:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=130119"},"modified":"2025-09-23T15:15:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T15:15:38","slug":"asayish-in-aleppo-repel-government-attack-reaffirm-april-1-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/130119\/","title":{"rendered":"Asayish in Aleppo repel government attack, reaffirm April 1 pact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ALEPPO, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Aleppo said on Tuesday they repelled an attack by units aligned with the Syrian government on one of their checkpoints near the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighbourhoods, and called for strict implementation of the April 1 agreement to prevent further clashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Muhammad Khalil, co-chair of the Asayish in the Sheikh Maqsoud\u2013Ashrafieh area, told North Press that \u201cfactions affiliated with the Syrian government deliberately attacked one of our military points on the outskirts of the two neighbourhoods, and were met with a response in the framework of the legitimate right of self-defence.\u201d He said the confrontation left two of the attackers wounded and one killed, and that Asayish forces had detained two members of the government-aligned units. Khalil added that a drone used in the assault was shot down during the clashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to his account, security committees in the area mobilised after the escalation and intervened to de-escalate the situation. He said the parties reached an arrangement to hand over the wounded, the body of the dead attacker and the detainees on Monday evening, and stressed that \u201cthere are currently no problems at the shared checkpoints between the two sides.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Khalil reiterated Asayish\u2019s commitment to the April 1 agreement, emphasising that his forces do not seek confrontation with any military formation: \u201cWe are determined to implement the agreement in full, and we do not wish to clash with any military forces. But if any military breach occurs, we have the natural right to respond to protect the residents of the two neighbourhoods and preserve their safety,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement frames the incident as both a security threat and a test of local accords that aim to reduce hostilities in Aleppo\u2019s contested urban areas.
