The injured were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The southern Deir ez-Zor region remains contaminated with landmines and unexploded ordnance, posing risks to civilians and workers in energy and reconstruction sectors. Local security forces and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) continue mine clearance and safety operations, contributing to safer conditions for field workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This incident follows a similar case on April 1, when a young engineer serving in the SDF\u2019s engineering and mine-clearing unit was killed in a landmine explosion at the same Al-Taim oil field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s worth mentioning that since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, landmines and unexploded ordnance have caused thousands of casualties across the country, affecting civilians, aid workers, and employees in key sectors such as oil, agriculture, and infrastructure. According to international monitoring groups, areas in Deir ez-Zor, Homs, Aleppo, and Idlib remain heavily contaminated, highlighting the long-term dangers of explosive remnants of war.
