{"id":127782,"date":"2025-07-30T08:47:01","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T08:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=127782"},"modified":"2025-07-30T08:47:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T08:47:02","slug":"sdc-reaffirms-march-10-agreement-as-path-to-democratic-pluralistic-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/127782\/","title":{"rendered":"SDC reaffirms March 10 agreement as path to democratic, pluralistic Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) described on Wednesday the March 10 agreement\u2014signed between Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa, and Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi as a national reference point for building a political solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During its regular session, the SDC Presidential Council called for a return to the terms of the March 10 agreement, stating that the agreement is a national reference that can be built upon to move the political process forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Council emphasized that the transitional phase is at a critical juncture, warning that the lack of genuine representation and the failure of existing models threaten any prospects for a meaningful settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe path to a solution does not lie in incitement, continued bloodshed, or cycles of violence,\u201d the Council added, \u201cbut in inclusive national dialogue that rebuilds trust among Syrians and lays the foundation for a democratic state that protects rights and embraces pluralism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ilham Ahmad, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), stated that decentralization is no longer a theoretical concept, but a national imperative for preserving Syria\u2019s unity and ensuring fair distribution of power and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo political settlement will succeed without the full participation of all Syrian communities, grounded in partnership and dignity,\u201d she said. \u201cContinued marginalization and exclusion will only deepen fragmentation and risk total collapse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the situation in Suwayda, the SDC condemned violations against civilians and warned against attempts to manipulate tribal communities in ways that fuel extremism and terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the recent Paris meeting, the SDC highlighted the significance of international engagement\u2014particularly the participation of U.S. Envoy Thomas Barrack, French Foreign Minister, and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani\u2014and noted that the Syrian Foreign Ministry\u2019s reaction shows the international community still sees a political solution as viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDC\u2019s Presidential Council agreed to initiate an inclusive national dialogue, bringing together Syria\u2019s diverse political, ethnic, religious, and social constituencies.
