{"id":127745,"date":"2025-07-29T11:38:26","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=127745"},"modified":"2025-07-29T11:38:28","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:38:28","slug":"sdfs-mazloum-abdi-expresses-commitment-to-syrias-unity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/127745\/","title":{"rendered":"SDF&#8217;s Mazloum Abdi expresses commitment to Syria&#8217;s unity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated on Tuesday that communication channels with the Syrian transitional government are active on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with Saudi Arabia news channel Al-Hadath, Abdi affirmed that both sides agree on the principle of a unified Syria under one army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized the SDF\u2019s commitment to the March 10 agreement signed with Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Sharaa, noting, \u201cImplementing the terms of the agreement will take time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abdi explained that the SDF will be incorporated into the Ministry of Defense as part of the broader unification process, saying: \u201cIntegrating 100,000 armed personnel into the ministry is a significant undertaking. Syria will have a single, centralized military force\u2014not two separate armies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also confirmed that a formal request has been submitted to Damascus for the reinstatement of government institutions in Raqqa, Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor, adding: \u201cWe are unified in our vision of Syria\u2019s territorial integrity. Decentralization does not mean fragmentation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Abdi, Damascus has expressed willingness to recognize Kurdish cultural and linguistic rights. \u201cWe have demanded that the Kurdish language be recognized as an official language alongside Arabic in Kurdish-majority area,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, Abdi acknowledged that certain sovereign institutions must remain centralized under the new governance model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding recent developments, Abdi noted that Damascus had requested the postponement of the planned Paris meeting due to the unfolding events in Suwayda. \u201cThese developments,\u201d he said, \u201creinforce the need for continued negotiations and reaching a final agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the potential role of Saudi Arabia, stating: \u201cSaudi Arabia could play a constructive role if it joins as a mediator in our talks with Damascus.
