A ceasefire came into effect last Sunday, bringing a temporary halt to the bloodshed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Abu Latif family had lost contact with Firas, who had traveled to Syria for vacation on July 17. Two days later, they were informed that his body had been discovered at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a related development, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed at a press briefing the death of Hossam Saraya, an American citizen of Syrian descent.
