{"id":127348,"date":"2025-07-17T10:12:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T10:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=127348"},"modified":"2025-07-17T10:12:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T10:12:05","slug":"druze-community-declares-syrias-suwayda-disaster-stricken-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/127348\/","title":{"rendered":"Druze community declares Syria&#8217;s Suwayda &#8220;disaster-stricken city&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The Spiritual leadership of the Druze community declared on Thursday that Suwayda city, southern Syria, is a &#8220;disaster-stricken city,&#8221; following days of intense clashes between forces of the Syrian transitional government and Druze armed groups that left more than 300 people dead or injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an official statement in Arabic, the Spiritual leadership said, \u201cIn these difficult moments, and after cleansing Suwayda of the filth of terrorists, we declare a period of general mourning in honor of the souls of the martyrs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier in the day, field sources told North Press that the government forces had completed its withdrawal from Suwayda, coinciding with the start of a ceasefire in the governorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spiritual leadership also called for unrestricted access for medical personnel and human rights documentation teams to operate inside the city.
