{"id":127231,"date":"2025-07-15T10:23:44","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T10:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=127231"},"modified":"2025-07-15T10:23:46","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T10:23:46","slug":"syrian-minister-of-defense-announces-ceasefire-in-suwayda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/127231\/","title":{"rendered":"Syrian Minister of Defense announces ceasefire in Suwayda"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Syrian Minister of Defense, Murhaf Abu Qasra, announced on Tuesday a complete ceasefire in the city of Suwayda, southern Syria, following an agreement with local dignitaries and community leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This comes amid reports suggesting that the Ministry of Defense is preparing to issue a statement ordering the withdrawal of heavy military vehicles from the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a post on &#8220;X&#8221; in Arabic, Abu Qasra stated, &#8220;To all units operating inside Suwayda, we announce a full ceasefire, with the exception of responding to sources of fire or any attacks by outlaw groups.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, &#8220;We have issued strict orders to the forces deployed in Suwayda to ensure the safety of civilians, uphold social peace, and protect both public and private property from opportunistic acts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Defense Minister also confirmed that preparations are underway to transfer security responsibilities in the city to the security forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As soon as combing operations are complete, we will begin handing over the city&#8217;s neighborhoods to the security forces to help restore order, ensure the safe return of residents to their homes, and stabilize the situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further noted, &#8220;We have ordered the deployment of military police units within Suwayda to monitor conduct and hold any violators accountable.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Malin Mohammed<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Syrian Minister of Defense, Murhaf Abu Qasra, announced on Tuesday a complete ceasefire in the city of Suwayda, southern Syria, following an agreement with local dignitaries and community leaders.
