{"id":127197,"date":"2025-07-14T11:32:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=127197"},"modified":"2025-07-14T11:32:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T11:32:09","slug":"sdc-warns-against-armed-escalation-in-syrias-suwayda-urges-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/127197\/","title":{"rendered":"SDC warns against armed escalation in Syria&#8217;s Suwayda, urges dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), issued a statement on Monday warning that the ongoing armed escalation in Suwayda, southern Syria, undermines the interests of the Syrian people and threatens further fragmentation of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the SDC said that resorting to armed confrontation and violence does not serve the people\u2019s causes. On the contrary, it only produces more tension and disintegration at a time when Syria urgently needs to heal, not deepen its wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The council condemned the involvement of Syrian Transitional Government security personnel in exacerbating the conflict in Suwayda, calling it a \u201cdangerous act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that any governmental action that fuels violence or deepens social divides represents a blatant failure of the state\u2019s duty to its people and risks dragging the country into further chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDC emphasized the urgent need to avoid falling into the trap of violent escalation, which has long been a driving force of Syria\u2019s internal conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It pointed out that national unity cannot be built on sectarian incitement but must rest on the foundations of citizenship, equality, and mutual respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SDC called on all parties in Suwayda and across Syria to exercise restraint, pursue immediate de-escalation, and adopt constructive dialogue instead of turning to arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Ahmad Othman<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the political wing of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), issued a statement on Monday warning that the ongoing armed escalation in Suwayda, southern Syria, undermines the interests of the Syrian people and threatens further fragmentation of the country.
