{"id":126835,"date":"2025-06-29T10:02:28","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T10:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=126835"},"modified":"2025-06-29T10:02:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T10:02:29","slug":"isis-gunmen-attack-oil-investors-home-in-deir-ez-zor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/126835\/","title":{"rendered":"ISIS gunmen attack oil investor&#8217;s home in Deir ez-Zor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Local sources said that Islamic State (ISIS) militants launched on Saturday an armed attack on the home and vehicle of an oil well investor in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident occurred in the town of al-Hajna, east of Deir ez-Zor, where the assailants opened fire with automatic weapons on the vehicle of Nazem al-Adnan, an investor involved in local oil wells, as he approached his residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A local source told North Press that al-Adnan managed to escape and took shelter inside his home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gunmen then targeted the house itself, triggering a brief exchange of fire that resulted in material damage but no reported casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added that al-Adnan had received threats earlier that day via WhatsApp from ISIS operatives demanding payment of &#8220;zakat&#8221;\u2014a form of alms the group attempts to impose as a form of extortion in areas where it remains active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate but possibly related incident on the same day, unidentified gunmen attacked the al-Sa\u2019ed money transfer office in the nearby town of Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local residents suspect ISIS involvement in the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Omar Abdurrahman<\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Local sources said that Islamic State (ISIS) militants launched on Saturday an armed attack on the home and vehicle of an oil well investor in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
