{"id":125373,"date":"2025-05-04T17:03:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T17:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=125373"},"modified":"2025-05-04T17:03:02","modified_gmt":"2025-05-04T17:03:02","slug":"syria-implements-security-agreement-with-druze-leaders-in-suwayda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/125373\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria implements security agreement with Druze leaders in Suwayda \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syrian authorities began on Sunday implementing a recently signed agreement with Druze religious and community leaders in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, aimed at enhancing internal security through local policing and judicial enforcement by residents of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">North Press correspondent in Suwayda said that security control of the village of al-Surah al-Kubra was formally handed over to local police officers from Suwayda as part of the agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suwayda Governor Mustafa al-Bakour confirmed that the agreement, reached between official authorities and Druze clerics, entered into force on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with Al Arabiya\/Al Hadath, al-Bakour stated that internal security will now be handled by former police and security personnel from the governorate who have not been implicated in any human rights violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also emphasized that Druze religious leaders will oversee the regulation and removal of unlicensed weapons in the area. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier, the Spiritual Leadership of the Druze community published the key terms of the agreement, which had been jointly approved by senior Druze sheikhs and representatives of local factions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Saad al-Yaziji<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Syrian authorities began on Sunday implementing a recently signed agreement with Druze religious and community leaders in Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, aimed at enhancing internal security through local policing and judicial enforcement by residents of the area.
