{"id":124596,"date":"2025-04-19T06:48:01","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T06:48:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=124596"},"modified":"2025-04-19T06:48:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-19T06:48:05","slug":"pentagon-announces-troop-consolidation-reduction-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/124596\/","title":{"rendered":"Pentagon announces troop consolidation, reduction in Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell announced on Friday a restructuring of U.S. forces in Syria, with troops being consolidated at undisclosed locations and overall numbers reduced to fewer than 1,000 personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a Pentagon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Releases\/Release\/Article\/4160500\/statement-from-chief-pentagon-spokesman-sean-parnell-announcing-the-consolidati\/\">statement<\/a>, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered the realignment of troops under the command of Joint Task Force \u2013 Operation Inherent Resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, U.S. forces are primarily stationed at three key bases in Syria, the al-Omar and Conoco oil fields in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, and the al-Tanf base near the Syrian-Jordanian-Iraqi border triangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This consolidation reflects the significant steps we have made toward degrading ISIS&#8217; appeal and operational capability regionally and globally. This deliberate and conditions-based process will bring the U.S. footprint in Syria down to less than a thousand U.S. forces in the coming months.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement emphasized that U.S. Central Command remains fully prepared to continue targeted strikes against remnants of ISIS in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pentagon reiterated its commitment to working closely with Coalition partners willing and able to sustain pressure on ISIS and address other emerging terrorist threats in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;An essential line of effort in degrading ISIS strength is reducing the populations of displaced and detained ISIS-linked individuals in camps and detention facilities in northeast Syria; we call on the international community to repatriate their nationals.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pentagon also noted that the U.S. maintains significant capabilities in the region and retains the flexibility to adjust force posture in response to evolving security conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Taysir Muhammad<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell announced on Friday a restructuring of U.S. forces in Syria, with troops being consolidated at undisclosed locations and overall numbers reduced to fewer than 1,000 personnel.
