Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen last week in Damascus and discussed unresolved and complex issues surrounding the Syrian crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to North Press, al-Balous said that they received a formal invitation from Pedersen\u2019s office to attend the meeting, which addressed several critical political, economic, security, and public service matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, Pedersen reportedly provided reassurances about the United Nations\u2019 continued commitment to supporting a political solution that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Balous emphasized the importance of addressing the security situation in Suwayda Governorate, noting that an understanding was reached with the Ministry of Defense to ensure that military and security personnel deployed in the governorate will be drawn from the local population.
