{"id":124044,"date":"2025-04-07T12:24:48","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T12:24:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=124044"},"modified":"2025-04-07T12:24:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T12:24:49","slug":"u-s-determines-outcome-of-israeli-turkish-rivalry-in-syria-expert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/124044\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. determines outcome of Israeli-Turkish rivalry in Syria \u2013 Expert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> An expert in international relations stated on Monday that the United States\u2019 position will be the decisive factor in shaping the nature of the ongoing Israeli-Turkish rivalry in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ashraf Akka, a specialist in international affairs, told North Press that Israeli airstrikes on Syrian territory are unlikely to stop, as the competition for influence between Israel and Turkey on Syrian soil plays a pivotal role in the future stability and territorial makeup of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Akka explained that Israel harbors strategic, security, economic, and religious ambitions in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted to what is referred to as the \u201cDavid Corridor\u201d\u2014a proposed route that extends from Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh), passing through Daraa and Suwayda, toward the Iraqi border and reaching the Euphrates River\u2014as a key element in Israel\u2019s broader plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We are facing a highly complex scene, and the Israeli airstrikes are expected to continue unless there is a decisive international stance\u2014particularly from the United States\u2014on how to reconcile the competing interests of Israel and Turkey,&#8221; Akka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that Israel&#8217;s actions in southern Syria appear aimed at creating buffer zones within Syrian territory, where it can establish military outposts that serve as permanent operational areas\u2014zones marked by frequent strikes, assassinations, and armed confrontations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis reflects the nature of Israeli policy,\u201d he added, \u201cwhich is unlikely to cease unless it is challenged directly or contained through regional power-sharing, particularly with Turkey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Akka concluded by noting that the complexity of the current regional dynamics will ultimately determine whether Israel will retreat from its airstrike campaign and return to ceasefire lines. \u201cThe coming days,\u201d he said, \u201cwill reveal the answers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Malin Muhammad<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 An expert in international relations stated on Monday that the United States\u2019 position will be the decisive factor in shaping the nature of the ongoing Israeli-Turkish rivalry in Syria.
