In return, Syria would receive economic, military, and political support from Turkey\u2014an arrangement that has reportedly raised serious concerns in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Hebrew news site Walla, Israeli officials are particularly alarmed by the potential expansion of Turkey\u2019s military presence east of Homs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This, the officials argue, could ultimately enable Turkey to establish a foothold in southern Syria, bringing it closer to direct friction with Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, during a security assessment meeting, an Israeli security source stated that &#8220;a confrontation between Turkey and Israel in Syria is inevitable due to Erdo\u011fan&#8217;s attempts to restrict Israel\u2019s operational freedom in the region.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, security officials have expressed a preference for Russia to re-establish its presence in Syria.
