DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The Syrian Civil Defense team, known as the White Helmets, uncovered on Monday a mass grave in rural Damascus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the Civil Defense said that the grave was discovered in the basement of a residential building in the Sbeineh area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to their findings, the bodies date back to around 2013, when the Syrian regime burned the victims inside the basement using tires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement added that the Civil Defense had received a report from local residents on the first day after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon investigating the site, they uncovered 50 charred bodies, noting that identification was nearly impossible due to the severity of the incineration, as most of the remains no longer contained viable DNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of December 2024, the U.S.-based Syrian Emergency Task Force announced the discovery<\/a> of a mass grave containing at least 100,000 bodies near the Syrian capital, Damascus, allegedly killed by the regime of Bashar al-Assad, now ousted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
