Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Syria remains one of the world\u2019s most complex humanitarian emergencies, with food insecurity posing a serious threat to millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its latest report, the U.N. highlighted the compounded effects of the crisis on wheat cultivation, milling, and bread distribution\u2014essential staples for the Syrian population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report noted to a significant decline in wheat yields, with 58 percent of wheat farmers in northwestern Syria\u2014particularly in Idlib and Hama\u2014reporting reduced harvests during the 2023-2024 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bakeries across Syria are struggling to meet demand, with the largest production gaps recorded in Aleppo and Idlib.
