BERLIN, Germany (North Press) – <\/strong>German Chancellor Olaf Scholz<\/strong> held a phone call on Friday with Ahmad al-Sharaa<\/strong>, Syria\u2019s transitional president, offering Berlin\u2019s support for the country\u2019s reconstruction following the fall of Bashar al-Assad\u2019s regime.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This follows a similar call from French President Emmanuel Macron<\/strong> earlier this week, making Scholz the second major European leader to engage with Syria\u2019s new leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German Commitment to Syria\u2019s Future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the German government spokesperson confirmed that Scholz\u2019s call lasted for an hour, during which he congratulated the Syrian people on ending Assad\u2019s rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
