{"id":121353,"date":"2025-01-24T12:53:16","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T12:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=121353"},"modified":"2025-01-24T12:53:19","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T12:53:19","slug":"eu-diplomat-links-lifting-sanctions-on-syria-to-inclusive-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/121353\/","title":{"rendered":"EU diplomat links lifting sanctions on Syria to inclusive transition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> European Union\u2019s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stated on Friday that the lifting of EU sanctions on Syria depends on tangible steps taken by the caretaker government in Damascus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a brief statement shared on the X Platform, Kallas emphasized during her meeting with Asaad al-Shibani, the Syrian caretaker government\u2019s foreign minister, that the new administration must initiate a peaceful and inclusive transitional process that safeguards the rights of all minorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only then will EU foreign ministers discuss easing the sanctions, Kallas remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier in January, Kallas hinted at specific conditions for lifting the EU sanctions imposed on Syria during Bashar al-Assad\u2019s tenure.
