{"id":121309,"date":"2025-01-22T17:02:31","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T17:02:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=121309"},"modified":"2025-01-22T17:02:34","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T17:02:34","slug":"protest-in-northern-syria-condemns-turkish-attacks-and-supports-sdf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/121309\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0Protest in Northern Syria Condemns Turkish Attacks and Supports SDF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Kardo Roj<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press)<\/strong> \u2013 Hundreds of residents of Tel Hamis, a town in the southern countryside of Northern Syria&#8217;s Qamishli, took to the streets on Wednesday in a march condemning Turkish attacks on civilians and expressing solidarity with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The protest followed a somber event on Tuesday in Qamishli city, where thousands gathered to mourn six civilians killed in Turkish airstrikes near Tishreen Dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Demanding Action Against Turkish Aggression<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Balqis Abdullah, a member of the Tel Hamis Council, highlighted the significance of the protest in supporting the SDF and denouncing Turkish actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis march is a message to the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene directly and stop Turkey\u2019s attacks on civilians and Tishreen Dam,\u201d Abdullah told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She described the targeting of civilians near Tishreen Dam as \u201ca crime against humanity\u201d and urged the U.S.-led international coalition to take decisive steps to halt the aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Community Leaders Speak Out<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faraj Ibrahim Al-Hamoud, a tribal elder from the Bu Ghaleb clan, emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful solutions in the face of violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe condemn and reject any aggression on anyone in northern and eastern Syria,\u201d Al-Hamoud said. \u201cWe believe in political solutions and came here to express our solidarity with the SDF, who have sacrificed their lives for our peace and safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The marchers carried banners denouncing Turkey\u2019s continued operations in the region and called for international intervention to end the attacks on civilians and key infrastructure like Tishreen Dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solidarity and Unity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The protest showcased the unity among various segments of the local population, with participants expressing their determination to defend their region\u2019s stability and future.
