{"id":119946,"date":"2024-12-19T08:46:15","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T08:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=119946"},"modified":"2024-12-19T08:46:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T08:46:16","slug":"druze-leader-in-syrias-suwayda-calls-for-decentralized-governance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/119946\/","title":{"rendered":"Druze leader in Syria\u2019s Suwayda calls for decentralized governance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The leader of the Druze Muslim community in Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria, Sheikh Hikmat al-Hajri, called on Wednesday for decentralized governance and a comprehensive national conference to unite all Syrians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Hajri, leader of the Druze al-Muwahhidun, urged the Syrian people from all backgrounds to convene a comprehensive national conference, establish and elect working committees, and draft a new constitution for the Syrian state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that this constitution should prioritize a decentralized administrative system that ensures the separation of powers, preserves governance institutions, and prevents the country\u2019s fragmentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His statement underscored the importance of avoiding any agenda favoring specific groups or factions, stating, &#8220;We have emerged from decades of an oppressive security and party authority that brought devastation, bloodshed, displacement, and oppression.
