{"id":119937,"date":"2024-12-19T07:47:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T07:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=119937"},"modified":"2024-12-19T07:47:34","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T07:47:34","slug":"u-s-commits-to-syrias-transition-counter-terrorism-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/119937\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. commits to Syria\u2019s transition, counter-terrorism efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The U.S. Department of State stressed on Wednesday evening Washington&#8217;s intention to ensure that emerging powers in Syria clearly understand the expectations of the international community if they seek recognition and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized it remains committed to engaging in Syria&#8217;s transitional process to prevent the country from becoming a ground for terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe know from hard experience that what happens in Syria doesn\u2019t necessarily stay inside of Syria.&nbsp; And whether it\u2019s enabling a base for terrorism that gets exported, whether it\u2019s mass displacements of populations that have had impacts way beyond Syria, it really matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blinken noted that if the HTS does not want isolation, \u201cthen there are certain things that you have to do in moving the country forward and make sure you\u2019re moving it forward in an inclusive way, in a non-sectarian way, to deal with and protect minorities, to deal with some of the security challenges, whether It\u2019s chemical weapons, whether it\u2019s groups like ISIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blinken added that the U.S. acted swiftly to foster consensus among Syria&#8217;s neighbors and the broader international community regarding the desired trajectory for Syria&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Abdulsalam Khoja<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 The U.S. Department of State stressed on Wednesday evening Washington&#8217;s intention to ensure that emerging powers in Syria clearly understand the expectations of the international community if they seek recognition and support.
