{"id":118191,"date":"2024-10-31T11:27:19","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T11:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=118191"},"modified":"2024-10-31T11:27:21","modified_gmt":"2024-10-31T11:27:21","slug":"turkish-backed-sna-faction-tortures-man-in-ne-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/118191\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkish-backed SNA faction tortures man in NE Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> A faction of the Turkish-backed armed opposition, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), tortured on Thursday a young man in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northeastern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Turkish-backed Sultan Murad Division detained a young man in Sere Kaniye while he was attempting to cross into Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A military source told North Press that after his arrest in the town of Tel Halaf, the young man was subjected to torture before being handed over to the Turkish-backed Civil Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 26-year-old man, originally from the city of Qamishli, had been planning to reach a European country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, the Civil Police also detained an individual in Sere Kaniye, whose fate remains unknown, according to the same source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sere Kaniye has been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and the control of SNA factions since 2019, following the so-called &#8220;Peace Spring&#8221; military operation that aimed to push away the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Turkish national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The operation resulted in the displacement of the population of the city.
