{"id":117932,"date":"2024-10-24T19:05:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T19:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=117932"},"modified":"2024-10-24T19:05:02","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T19:05:02","slug":"turkey-pkk-conflict-internal-not-syrian-issue-aanes-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/117932\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey-PKK conflict internal, not Syrian issue \u2013 AANES official\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> A military official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated on Thursday that the conflict between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers&#8217; Party (PKK) is an internal Turkish matter, not a Syrian one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to Turkey\u2019s recent escalation in northeastern Syria, Ismat Sheikh Hassan, co-chair of the Defense Board of the AANES, told North Press that Syria is not involved in the long-standing conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which began in the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sheikh Hassan accused Turkey of using a recent incident in Ankara as a pretext for targeting the region, with attacks impacting infrastructure and civilians, particularly children and the elderly, as seen in the town of Tel Rifaat, <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/117879\/\">north of Aleppo<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that Turkey is using these claims to continue its military operations and export its internal crises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AANES official called for the creation of an international committee to monitor the border from Derik (al-Malikiyah) to Manbij, asserting that they have launched no attacks against Turkey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sheikh Hassan indicated that Turkey exporting its internal conflict with the PKK to target civilians, including children and the elderly, and to strike <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/117868\/\">infrastructure facilities<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stressed that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are prepared to defend the region, affirming that the SDF has the legitimate right to self-defense against any Turkish aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Zana al-Ali <\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RAQQA, Syria (North Press) \u2013 A military official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated on Thursday that the conflict between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers&#8217; Party (PKK) is an internal Turkish matter, not a Syrian one.
