{"id":117266,"date":"2024-10-03T10:58:20","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T10:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=117266"},"modified":"2024-10-03T10:58:22","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T10:58:22","slug":"turkey-backed-armed-groups-block-syrians-fleeing-lebanon-from-returning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/117266\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey-backed armed groups block Syrians fleeing Lebanon from returning\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syrians fleeing the war in Lebanon told North Press on Thursday that Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), have been preventing their passage to their areas in northern Syria since Oct. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Turkish-backed Military Police and SNA factions have been blocking hundreds of Syrians who fled the war in Lebanon from entering northern Syria, where the SNA holds control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hundreds of Syrians returning to northern Syria have been stranded for two days at the Awn al-Dadat crossing in the countryside of Jarablus, northern Syria, enduring what they describe as &#8220;difficult&#8221; conditions, particularly as temperatures drop in the evening hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to sources, around 400 Syrian families are stranded at the crossing, and the Military Police faction is refusing their passage until &#8220;security assessments are completed.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on Damascus and southern Lebanon, targeting key military sites linked to Hezbollah and Iranian-backed militias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strikes have forced both Lebanese and Syrian residents to flee the conflict zone.
