{"id":116459,"date":"2024-08-30T18:25:52","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T18:25:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=116459"},"modified":"2024-08-30T18:26:16","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T18:26:16","slug":"family-receives-body-of-son-tortured-to-death-in-syrian-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/116459\/","title":{"rendered":"Family receives body of son tortured to death in Syrian prison"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DARAA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The grief-stricken family of a young man from Daraa Governorate, southern Syria, received on Friday his body after a harrowing year and a half of uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family&#8217;s son, Sa\u2019do al-Shar\u2019a, had been imprisoned in the infamous Saydnaya Prison in Damascus countryside, where he ultimately met his tragic end due to &#8220;brutal torture behind bars.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to local sources cited by the North Press correspondent, al-Shar\u2019a was arrested by Syrian government forces at a checkpoint on the Damascus-Daraa highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al-Shar\u2019a family endured months of unanswered questions before being notified of his death, attributed to relentless torture inflicted during his detention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">al-Shar\u2019a, from the village of al-Madoura in the eastern countryside of Daraa, had once served in the government forces.
