{"id":115897,"date":"2024-08-08T10:29:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T10:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=115897"},"modified":"2024-08-08T10:29:49","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T10:29:49","slug":"2-somali-men-arrested-in-u-s-plead-guilty-to-planning-to-fight-for-isis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/115897\/","title":{"rendered":"2 Somali men arrested in U.S. plead guilty to planning to fight for ISIS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) &#8211;<\/strong> The United States Attorney&#8217;s Office in the District of Arizona stated on Wednesday that two Somali men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide support to the Islamic State (ISIS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-az\/pr\/two-tucson-men-admit-conspiring-travel-middle-east-fight-isis\">statement<\/a> added that Ahmed Mahad Mohamed, 26, and Abdi Yemeni Hussein, 25, were arrested at Tucson airport as part of an FBI operation five years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement noted that Mohamed&#8217;s main aspiration was to go to Syria to join ISIS and participate in jihad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting in August 2018, Mohamed sought out online connections with other supporters of ISIS. He expressed a desire to travel to areas controlled by ISIS to become a &#8220;beheading guy&#8221; and to die as a martyr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2019, he met with Hussein to discuss their plans.
