Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria Adam Abdelmoula urged on Monday to focus on early recovery for Syria to bring aid dependence to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a visit he paid to Syria, Abdelmoula said, &#8220;\u2026, needs&nbsp; increase and funding decreases,&#8221; adding that they need to do things differently and focus on early recovery to break the cycle of aid dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abdelmoula visited the cities of Qamishli and Hasakah in northeast Syria and met with &#8220;partners providing much-needed humanitarian support to the people in need.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He expressed his hope in seeing efforts in Qamishli &#8220;to ensure the most vulnerable people are not forgotten.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The crisis in Syria has reached unprecedented levels and we must continue to work tirelessly in support of the people of this country,&#8221; the U.N. official added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abdelmoula indicated that the water crisis in Hasakah is &#8220;endangering the lives of millions of vulnerable people.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;One thing is clear,&#8221; he said. &#8220;With resources dwindling and people\u2019s needs rising, we must leave behind the outdated ways of working.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.N. coordinator met with Hasakah Governor, Louay Sayyouh, and discussed humanitarian affairs in Hasakah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sayyouh noted to the urgent needs of Hasakah, &#8220;most notably shortage of drinking water and suffering of people, in light of the continued cutting off drinking water to one million citizens by Turkish occupation,&#8221; Syria&#8217;s state-run news agency SANA reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Jwan Shekaki<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 United Nations (U.N.)
