{"id":114109,"date":"2024-05-20T13:52:03","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T13:52:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=114109"},"modified":"2024-05-20T13:52:05","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T13:52:05","slug":"britain-based-islamist-ngo-builds-new-settlement-in-syrias-afrin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/114109\/","title":{"rendered":"Britain-based Islamist NGO builds new settlement in Syria&#8217;s Afrin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>AFRIN, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>A Britain-based Islamist organization has built a settlement in the Kurdish region of Afrin in northwestern Syria, North Press correspondent said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The correspondent added that the building of the settlement has been funded by the One Ummah organization and carried out by a company affiliated with the Afrin local council that was founded by Turkey in 2018 following the occupation of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The settlement consists of 40 buildings including 160 apartments, in addition to a dispensary and a mosque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was built next to the village of Hiloubi in the town of Sharran, southeast of the city of Afrin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city of Afrin with the 365 villages surrounding it have been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), since March 2018 following the so-called \u201cOlive Branch\u201d military operation to push away the Kurdish People Protection Units (YPG) under the pretext of protecting \u201cTurkish national security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since then, Islamist organizations supported by Turkey have constructed multiple settlements to house thousands of SNA militants\u2019 families who came from other areas of Syria.
