{"id":113318,"date":"2024-04-19T11:39:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T11:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=113318"},"modified":"2024-04-19T11:39:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T11:39:02","slug":"isis-kills-22-iranian-backed-militants-in-syrian-desert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/113318\/","title":{"rendered":"ISIS kills 22 Iranian-backed militants in Syrian Desert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOMS, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The Islamic State group (ISIS) killed on Friday 22 militants of an Iranian-backed militia in the Syrian Desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">22 militants of the Quds Force, a militia affiliated with Iran&#8217;s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were killed as a result of an ambush by ISIS militants in the Syrian Desert, a source from the Force said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ISIS militants targeted the vehicle that was carrying the Quds Force members with missiles in the village of Tayba in the eastern countryside of Homs, the source told North Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source indicated that Russian and Syrian government forces launched combing operations in the eastern countryside of Homs, and they found tanks and heavy machineries where bodies of members and leaders inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, warplanes of the Russian and government forces have carried out airstrikes on posts of ISIS in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Syrian Desert \u2013 which stretches across the Syrian governorates of Hama, Homs, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor \u2013 has been the most dangerous region in the country since 2017. In Deir ez-Zor, the desert is separated between areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), east of the Euphrates River, and those controlled by government forces and Iran-backed militias in west of the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This division prompted ISIS sleeper cells to adopt the Desert as their new capital for recruiting militants and launching operations that target the cities and villages held under control of the abovementioned forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Ardo Juweid\u00a0\u00a0
