{"id":113187,"date":"2024-04-14T19:08:48","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T19:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=113187"},"modified":"2024-04-14T19:08:49","modified_gmt":"2024-04-14T19:08:49","slug":"eu-condemns-irans-attack-on-israel-calls-for-emergency-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/113187\/","title":{"rendered":"EU condemns Iran\u2019s attack on Israel, calls for emergency meeting\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned on Sunday the Iranian attack on Israel with drones and missiles, and called for an emergency meeting of EU member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borrell tweeted on the X platform, \u201cFollowing the Iranian attacks against Israel, I have called an extraordinary VTC meeting of EU Foreign Affairs ministers, on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed alignright is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Following the Iranian attacks against Israel, I have called an extraordinary VTC meeting of EU Foreign Affairs ministers, on Tuesday. <br><br>Our objective is to contribute to de-escalation and security of the region.<\/p>&mdash; Josep Borrell Fontelles (@JosepBorrellF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JosepBorrellF\/status\/1779480915342733770?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur objective is to contribute to de-escalation and security of the region,\u201d Borrell added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe EU condemns in the strongest terms the Iranian drone and missile attacks against Israel,\u201d Borrell condemned the Iranian attack in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is an unprecedented escalation and a threat to regional security,\u201d Borrell added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 1, Israeli airstrikes <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/112780\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">targeted<\/a> Iran\u2019s consulate in Damascus, which is adjacent to the main embassy building, killing five officers in the Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, Iran <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/113165\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launched<\/a> over 100 drones and missiles towards Israel in retaliation for the attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe EU reiterates its commitment to the security of Israel. In this highly tense regional situation, further escalation can be no one\u2019s interest. We call on all parties to exercise utmost restraint,\u201d Borrell further added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Saad
