Their faces were hidden behind balaclavas and they smelled of alcohol,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justsecurity.org\/92384\/the-just-security-podcast-a-syrian-war-crimes-verdict-in-a-dutch-court\/\">Just Security<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group were supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
