DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed on Saturday the downing of 12 drones belonging to Yemen\u2019s Houthi rebels in the #Red_Sea and the Gulf of #Aden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

U.S. Central Command said in a statement<\/a> that on Friday, at 10:30 AM, the American destroyer USS Carney \u201dshot down seven UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicle] over the Red Sea,\u201d adding that no injuries or damage were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later at 4:40 PM, the statement added, CENTCOM forces carried out \u201cstrikes against four Houthi UAVs that were prepared to launch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe U.S. Navy ships in the region. U.S. forces subsequently struck and destroyed the UAVs in self-defense,\u201d CENTCOM further commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately five hours later, \u201cThe Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group engaged and shot down seven UAVs over the Red Sea,\u201d the statement continued, noting that no injuries or damages were reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

International commercial vessels have been at risk of attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023. The group carries out near-daily attacks on these ships, posing a threat to global trade as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
