{"id":110466,"date":"2024-01-24T07:36:36","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T07:36:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=110466"},"modified":"2024-01-24T07:36:38","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T07:36:38","slug":"u-s-strikes-3-facilities-of-iranian-backed-militia-in-iraq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/110466\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. strikes 3 facilities of Iranian-backed militia in Iraq"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> The U.S. carried out late on Tuesday airstrikes on facilities of an Iranian-backed militia in Iraq in response to an attack against American troops and base there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Releases\/Release\/Article\/3653870\/statement-from-secretary-of-defense-lloyd-j-austin-iii-on-us-strikes-in-iraq\/\">statement<\/a>, &#8220;U.S. military forces conducted necessary and proportionate strikes on three facilities used by the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia group and other Iran-affiliated groups in Iraq.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;These precision strikes are in direct response to a series of escalatory attacks against U.S. and Coalition personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-sponsored militias,&#8221; Austin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Jan. 20, the U.S. officials said that American troops suffered injuries in a <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/110330\/\">major rocket attack<\/a> on the Ain al-Asad Airbase in Iraq.
