{"id":110200,"date":"2024-01-17T08:42:58","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T08:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=110200"},"modified":"2024-01-17T08:42:59","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T08:42:59","slug":"u-s-to-re-designate-houthis-as-specially-designated-global-terrorists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/110200\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. to re-designate Houthis as specially designated global terrorists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) &#8211; <\/strong>The U.S. is expected to re-designate the Iranian-backed Houthis&nbsp;in Yemen as specially designated global terrorists, after the group was delisted as&nbsp;a foreign terrorist organization and as specially designated global terrorists in February 2021 by&nbsp;Secretary of State Antony Blinken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-politics\/ap-us-national-security-adviser-says-stopping-houthi-red-sea-attacks-is-an-all-hands-on-deck-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, citing two people familiar with the White House decision and a U.S. official, that the decision comes as the Houthis have launched dozens of attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group says it has attacked the ships in response to Israel\u2019s military operations in Gaza in the aftermath of Hamas\u2019 Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
