{"id":108970,"date":"2023-12-20T06:42:23","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T06:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=108970"},"modified":"2023-12-20T06:42:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T06:42:25","slug":"japan-contributes-7-million-to-support-children-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/108970\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Japan contributes $7 million to support children in Syria<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>Japan contributed about $7 million to UNICEF to provide vulnerable children and their families in earthquake- and conflict-affected areas in Syria with clean water, good sanitation, hygiene supplies, and education services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UNICEF said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/syrian-arab-republic\/japan-contributes-us7-million-bolster-education-water-sanitation-and-hygiene-services-crises-affected-areas-syria\">press release<\/a>, citing Hirofumi Miyake, Charge d\u2019Affaires and Special Coordinator for Syria, \u201cJapan remains committed to support conflict- and earthquake-affected children in Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contribution will help in rehabilitating water facilities (including elevated water tanks, networks, pumping stations, treatment plants) and sanitation networks damaged as the result of the earthquakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also will help children to get education through school rehabilitation and temporary learning spaces, provide non-formal education for out-of-school children and children at risk of dropping out, and build capacity of teachers and education personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contribution will \u201chelp to restore systems to deliver essential basic services for more than a half million of children and their families,\u201d said Yasumasa Kimura, UNICEF Syria Representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to the earthquakes that struck Syria on Feb. 6, children in Syria were already struggling to cope amid 12 years of sustained conflict.
