{"id":108930,"date":"2023-12-19T08:18:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T08:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=108930"},"modified":"2023-12-19T08:18:33","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T08:18:33","slug":"jordanian-airstrikes-hit-sites-in-southern-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/108930\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Jordanian airstrikes hit sites in southern Syria<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DARAA, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Jordan conducted late on Monday airstrikes on several sites in southern Syria, causing material damages and possible casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reuters reported on Tuesday that regional intelligence sources said Jordan launched several airstrikes in southern Syria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Jordanian army said the airstrikes were in retaliation for a <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/108898\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">major smuggling attempt<\/a> from Syria by groups of armed smugglers linked to Iranian-backed militias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The attacks targeted &#8220;hideouts of Iranian-backed drug smugglers,&#8221; the sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Explosions rocked towns in the eastern countryside of Daraa near the vicinity of a dam in the village of al-Mataaiyah on the Syrian-Jordanian border, according to North Press&#8217; correspondent in Daraa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A second rocket reportedly hit another site on al-Mataaiyah-Ghasm road, injuring at least one person and causing material losses, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, North Press&#8217; correspondent in Suwayda reported that strikes targeted the residence of Nasser al-Saadi, a known drug trafficker in the city of Salkhad, southern Suwayda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additional airstrikes were carried out on the southern countryside of Suwayda.
