{"id":107881,"date":"2023-11-23T08:23:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-23T08:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=107881"},"modified":"2023-11-23T08:23:09","modified_gmt":"2023-11-23T08:23:09","slug":"aanes-says-turkish-attacks-on-ne-syria-kill-2-people-injure-5-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/107881\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>AANES says Turkish attacks on NE Syria kill 2 people, injure 5 others<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Thursday that two people were killed and five others were injured in yesterday\u2019s Turkish attacks on Qamishli countryside, northeast Syria. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AANES said, in a statement, that the attacks aim to strike security and stability in AANES-held areas and undermine all efforts to eliminate terrorism of Islamic State (ISIS) especially following the recent operations of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Counter-Terrorism Unites (YAT) in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition that led to the elimination of a number of ISIS sleeper cells and the arrest of ISIS leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, three cars <a href=\"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/107857\/\">were targeted<\/a> in separate Turkish attacks in the countryside of Qamishli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Turkish targeting of vital facilities and infrastructure is a war crime that aims to undermine the work of the AANES\u2019 facilities,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Oct.5 to Oct. 9, Turkey attacked 104 sites in northern and northeastern Syria, including vital infrastructure such as power, gas, and water stations and educational facilities, with more than 580 air and ground strikes, according to a statement by the AANES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strikes took place following a statement by Turkey\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, in which he threatened to strike a broader range of targets in Syria and Iraq in retaliation for the Ankara attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 1, two individuals carried out a bomb attack in front of the building of the Ministry of Interior in Turkey\u2019s Ankara injuring two police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 4, Fidan claimed that the two attackers had been trained in Syria. \u201cFrom now on, all infrastructure, large facilities and energy facilities belonging to (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria are legitimate targets for our security forces,\u201d he threatened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Robin Omar<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Thursday that two people were killed and five others were injured in yesterday\u2019s Turkish attacks on Qamishli countryside, northeast Syria.
