{"id":105636,"date":"2023-10-05T14:53:03","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T14:53:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=105636"},"modified":"2023-10-05T14:53:05","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T14:53:05","slug":"ne-syria-witnesses-power-outage-due-to-turkish-military-escalation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/105636\/","title":{"rendered":"NE Syria witnesses power outage due to Turkish military escalation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>An official in Electricity Directorate in northeast Syria told North Press, on Thursday, that power outage took place in the cities of Hasakah, Qamishli, and Amuda following Turkish drone strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTurkish drone strikes targeted the converter station of the western dam in Hasakah, which is currently out of service. As a result, western neighborhoods of the city of Hasakah and villages in the northern countryside will stay without electricity,\u201d Akram Suleiman, the head of Electricity Directorate in northeast Syria, stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Turkish drone strikes also hit the northern power station in Qamishli, leaving many neighborhoods and villages in the northern and eastern countryside of the city without electricity, according to Suleiman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the city of Amuda and the surrounding villages will stay without electricity after the Amuda power station went out of service due to the Turkish drone strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The drone strikes took place following a statement by Turkey\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, in which he threatened to strike a broader range of targets in Syria and Iraq in retaliation for the Ankara attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 1, two individuals carried out a bomb attack in front of the building of the Ministry of Interior in Ankara injuring two police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, Fidan claimed that the two assailants who carried out the attack had been trained in Syria. \u201cFrom now on, all infrastructure, large facilities and energy facilities belonging to (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria are legitimate targets for our security forces,\u201d he threatened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By
