{"id":103047,"date":"2023-08-20T13:03:04","date_gmt":"2023-08-20T13:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=103047"},"modified":"2023-08-20T13:03:05","modified_gmt":"2023-08-20T13:03:05","slug":"former-us-defense-secretary-visits-ne-syria-calls-to-support-aanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/103047\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Former US Defense Secretary visits NE Syria, calls to support AANES<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Former US Secretary of Defense, Christopher Miller, called on the US to support the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and to preserve the &#8220;unique experience&#8221;. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The AANES&#8217; Foreign Relations Department said in a statement on Sunday that Miller visited northeastern Syria on August 16 and held several meetings in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miller acted as US Secretary of Defense from Nov. 9, 2020, to Jan. 20, 2021. He previously served as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center from Aug. 10 to Nov. 9, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the statement, the former US official called to support stabilization efforts in the region and discussed the challenges and threats the AANES is facing and the need to support it politically and financially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also tackled the issue of camps and prisons, saying that they require a greater support, &#8220;so far, these matters need more efforts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Badran Chiya Kurd, co-chair of Foreign Relations Department, talked about general issues and explained the challenges facing the region. He also stressed the necessity of joint cooperation to guarantee the achievement of stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Agid
