{"id":100573,"date":"2023-07-05T09:46:28","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T09:46:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=100573"},"modified":"2023-07-05T09:46:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T09:46:29","slug":"sources-say-russian-qatari-emirati-companies-invest-damascus-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/100573\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Sources say Russian, Qatari, Emirati companies invest Damascus Airport<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>DAMSCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 <\/strong>An official in the Damascus International Airport told North Press on Wednesday that three Russian, Qatari, and Emirati companies were contracted to invest Damascus International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source said, &#8220;The contraction took place months before the al-Ba\u02bdath newspaper publicized the news.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Days ago, the pro-government al-Ba&#8217;ath newspaper revealed about an investment deal for the Damascus Airport accounting for about 49 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source noted that the investing companies are the Russian Larus, the Qatari Middle East Investment Co., and the Emirati AirAsia Travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It went further adding that &#8220;the three Russian, Qatari, and Emirati companies&#8217; focus is concentrated on improving commercial facilities within the airport, more precisely, the role of these companies is a supplement for an investment much greater by Iran.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A source from SyrianAir told North Press that &#8220;an agreement was reached in the field of aviation standards, training, repair, and service centers following the recent visit by Iranian President&nbsp; Ebrahim Raisi to Damascus.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The source added, &#8220;The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian government agreed to cooperate in the field of reconstructing and modernizing all Syrian airports, including the Damascus Airport.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It noted that Iran will plan and manage the work of improving and erecting equipment while Syria will implement the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth mentioning that the Damascus Airport have come under Israeli missiles several times, and Israel has intensified strikes on Syrian airports and air bases in recent months to disrupt Iran\u2019s increasing use of aerial supply lines to deliver arms to allies in Syria and Lebanon, including Lebanon\u2019s Hezbollah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Russia and Iran are key brokers for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in his suppression against opposition factions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reporting by Hani Shihab<\/strong><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAMSCUS, Syria (North Press) \u2013 An official in the Damascus International Airport told North Press on Wednesday that three Russian, Qatari, and Emirati companies were contracted to invest Damascus International Airport.
