{"id":141416,"date":"2026-09-12T15:49:04","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T15:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=141416"},"modified":"2026-09-12T15:49:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T15:49:05","slug":"syrian-internal-security-opens-probe-into-kobani-prison-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=141416","title":{"rendered":"Syrian Internal Security opens probe into Kobani prison fire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syrian Internal Security said on Saturday it will investigate a fire at Kobani Prison that killed eight inmates and injured 17 others, including critically injured people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eight inmates died and 17 others, some critically injured, early Saturday after security tensions erupted inside a prison in the northern Aleppo city of Kobani following protests and security developments in the city in recent hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the Internal Security Forces said the incident resulted in the deaths of seven inmates and left dozens suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs the Aleppo Internal Security Forces Command extends its condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured, it confirms that an investigation will be opened to determine the circumstances of the incident and establish responsibilities,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that legal measures would be taken against anyone found to have been involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Internal Security Forces Command said the administration of Kobani Prison had not yet been transferred to the official government authorities, adding that the handover process was subject to judicial and legal procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe prison file remains under procedures with the competent judicial authorities, pending the issuance of the necessary decisions and warrants to complete the formal handover as part of the integration plan,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that this had prevented the actual handover from being completed before the incident occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Internal Security Forces Command said relevant authorities were following developments and would announce the investigation results once they were completed in accordance with legal procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>By Mohammed al-Qadi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013 Syrian Internal Security said on Saturday it will investigate a fire at Kobani Prison that killed eight inmates and injured 17 others, including critically injured people.
