{"id":140151,"date":"2026-08-11T11:54:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T11:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=140151"},"modified":"2026-08-11T11:54:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T11:54:17","slug":"syria-says-it-made-progress-on-nuclear-issues-awaits-iaea-delegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/npasyria.com\/en\/?p=140151","title":{"rendered":"Syria says it made progress on nuclear issues, awaits IAEA delegation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) \u2013<\/strong> Syria affirmed on Tuesday continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United States and other countries to address the legacy of the former government and advance the peaceful use of nuclear energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission said cooperation with the IAEA and international partners aims to activate Syria\u2019s full membership in the agency and support the country\u2019s peaceful nuclear applications, including in health, food and scientific research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commission said it has made \u201ctangible progress\u201d since what it described as the country\u2019s liberation, relying on its national capabilities despite limited technical resources and insufficient international support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It renewed its call for the establishment of a specialized international committee to provide the technical and legal assistance needed to complete procedures in line with international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Syria said an IAEA delegation is expected to visit the country in the coming days.
