DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) - On Tuesday, the Akidat tribe in Deir ez-Zor sent a statement to the Global Coalition calling for the formation of an investigation committee into the assassination of Sheikh Mutashar al-Hafl and his relative Da’r al-Khalaf, demanding that the committee consist of professional and specialized persons with the participation of experienced investigators from the tribe nominated by Sheikh Ibrahim al-Hafl.
The Akidat tribe held the Global Coalition fully responsible for what is happening in their areas, as it represents the forces operating on the ground and is one of the foundations of the de facto authorities.
The statement indicated that the eastern Euphrates region in general is undergoing security chaos and administrative and military corruption.
The statement called on the Global Coalition to hand over the management of their regions to their owners, provided that the Arab community takes its full role in managing its regions and leading them with those who have competence, integrity, and experience, and those who meet the management qualifications, far from any partisan tutelage and the influence of people.
Two dignitaries of the Akidat tribe in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, namely Sheikh Mutashar al-Hamoud al-Jadaan al-Hafl and Sheikh Ibrahim al-Khalil al-Aboud al-Jadaan al-Hafl, were subjected to an armed attack by unknown persons on the first day of Eid al-Adha while they were returning from a tribal reconciliation, killing Sheikh Mutashar and his driver and injuring Sheikh Ibrahim.
The tribe called on the Global Coalition and all countries active in Syria to push for a political solution that guarantees the rights of all Syrians and the unity and independence of Syria.
The statement also called for the release of detainees and finding radical and humane solutions to the issue of the camps as well as returning women and children to their families.
“The Akidat tribe set a period of time not exceeding one month, starting from the date of the statement, for the response of the Global Coalition to the terms of the statement and extradition of criminals to justice," according to the statement.
