The northern countryside of Aleppo was subjected to heavy artillery shelling, Yesterday on Sunday, by the Turkish forces and the affiliated armed opposition groups, targeting residential neighborhoods in the area.
The heavy artillery shelling coincided with the control of the Syrian government forces over several towns and villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo, in conjunction with the withdrawal of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups from those areas.
The Turkish military and its affiliated armed opposition groups targeted the residential neighborhoods of Tal Rifaat, while bombed the villages of Maraanaz, Malikiya, Kafr Antoun, Kafr Naya, Sheikh Hilal, Mathana Faisal and the town of Deir Jamal in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
They also targeted the forested area located between the villages of Soghana and Aqiba of Sherawa district, south of Afrin, with 8 shells, targeting Menagh Air-base in Aleppo’s northern countryside.
Furthermore, the Turkish artillery shelling reached the villages of Sheikh Issa, Maraanaz, Malikiya, Shawarga and Qalaat Shawarga of Sharran district in Afrin, while a Turkish shell hit near nearby the Russian military base on the road between Deir Jamal and Kashtaar in Aleppo’s northern countryside, that injured 3 IDPs, who resided in a place near the Russian base in the village of Kashtaar.
On Sunday, the Syrian government forces took control over the strategic towns of Hraytan, Anadan, Kafr Hamra, the Second Electricity Association, Jamiat Azar, Tal Nabi Numan, Jamiat al-Fanar, Bashqatin, Beit Ghazi, al-Houta, Qaylun, the Arab Union Society, the Warriors Association, and Majina.
The Syrian government forces also took control over al-Zahraa and Lairamoun areas in the western countryside of Aleppo, after the withdrawal of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the armed groups of the National Front for Liberation, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
