A Russian patrol headed from its point in al-Mabaqer station in the countryside of Tal Tamr, on Wednesday, towards the M4 highway, in order to reconnoiter the targeted points yesterday by the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.
As this Russian patrol differs from the previous ones, in terms of increased number, as the patrol consisted of six armored vehicles and accompanying cars.
A coordinator of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of the Russian forces told North-Press that the reason for the increase of the number of Russian armored vehicles and soldiers in this patrol is "the tense situation between Russia and Turkey in Idlib, and in anticipation of any emergencies."
Earlier on Tuesday, the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups targeted the countryside of Tal Tamr and the town of Abu Rasin, northwest of Hasakah, with mortar shells, where several shells hit the vicinity of Um al-Keif village, 4km north of Tal Tamr, the shelling didn’t cause any damage or human injuries.
Moreover, local sources told North-Press that the positioning site of the Russian forces in al-Mabaqer station, north of Tal Tamr, close to the place where the shells have fallen, witnessed an alert by the forces present there.
The Syrian government forces clashed with the armed opposition groups after the recent attack carried out by the latter on the villages of Rabi`at and Tal al-Ward in the countryside of Abu Rasin, in conjunction with the fall of several mortar shells on the agricultural lands coming from the Turkish backed armed groups side, according to the sources.
The countryside of Tal Tamr is witnessing ongoing shelling since the Turkish military invasion in northeastern Syria, in October, by the Turkish backed armed opposition groups, and frequent clashes between these armed groups on one side and the Syrian government forces and the SDF on the other.
